Movie Review : Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu

Producer: Manickam Narayanan
Director: Gowtham Menon
Cast: Kamal Haasan, Jyothika, Kamalini Mukherjee, Prakash Raj
Music: Harris Jayaraj

Kamal Haasan is known for doing any kind of role with ease. He gets into the skin of the characters he plays easily and Gautham Menon is known for his directorial skills. So, when these two join hands, expectations are bound to shoot up like never before. The good news is they have lived up to the expectations of the people. ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ is indeed an entertainer all the way.

DCP Raghavan (Kamal Haasan) is on a lookout for the killers of Rani, the daughter of Arogya Raj (Praksh Raj), who he share a unique relationship. Arogya Raj goes to New York with his family to escape the grievous memories of his daughter but he is brutally killed there. Now, Raghavan goes to New York to crack down the mystery. In the meantime, he comes across Aradhana (Jyothika). They make a good pair, as he is a widower and Aradhana is trying to get out of failed marriage. The rest of the film is on how he catches hold of the culprits with the help of the US police.

Kamal is the livewire of the film. His performance as a cop who is on a look out for mystery killers is brilliant. He plays the role with ease. Jyothika is good and she has done her part well. Kamalini’s role is simple, yet she has done it gracefully. Other actors like Prakash Raj and Balaji too have done justice to their roles.

The technical aspects of the film are cool. Harris Jeyaraj’s music really rocks and the re-recording is also excellent. Ravi Varman’s camera work has added spice to the film. The way he has pictured the film is superb.

In short, it is director Gautham who deserves special mention. He knows how to entertain the audience. ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ is indeed a good entertainer. Film buffs should not miss it and more so Kamal Haasan fans.
